August 1, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3681 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1936 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3550 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Dell Inc (NASDAQ:DELL), Nokia Oyj (NYSE:NOK), Sprint Nextel Corp (NYSE:S), RESEARCH IN MOTION (NASDAQ:RIMM), Standard Pacific Corp (NYSE:SPF), BASF SE (OTC:BASFY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  DELL $-0.090 -0.76% 6,056,363 57.03% 4,493,357 42.31% 1,563,006 Abnormal
  NOK $-0.040 -1.66% 59,750,136 34.96% 49,124,363 28.74% 10,625,773 Abnormal
  S $-0.050 -1.15% 21,639,448 36.62% 17,833,208 30.18% 3,806,240 Abnormal
  RIMM $-0.030 -0.42% 12,645,146 55.63% 10,084,936 44.37% 2,560,210 Abnormal
  SPF $-0.060 -1.06% 8,919,394 47.81% 4,416,343 23.67% 4,503,051 Abnormal
  BASFY $-1.000 -1.37% 1,146,079 96.26% 25,366 2.13% 1,120,713 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DELL with 1,563,006 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.09000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
