Market Maker Surveillance Report. QLGC, SBUX, DHI, AONE, ZNGA, FB, Bearishly Biased Price Friction For Friday, July 27th 2012
July 27, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3485 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4404 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1463 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. QLogic Corp (NASDAQ:QLGC), Starbucks Corp (NASDAQ:SBUX), DR Horton Inc (NYSE:DHI), A123 Systems Inc (NASDAQ:AONE), Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA), Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction QLGC $-1.440 -11.43% 7,336,211 59.67% 4,921,669 40.03% 2,414,542 Abnormal SBUX $-4.960 -9.47% 14,887,791 52.37% 13,071,380 45.98% 1,816,411 Abnormal DHI $-0.410 -2.18% 4,844,389 36.89% 3,527,422 26.86% 1,316,967 Abnormal AONE $-0.140 -21.88% 11,633,685 54.88% 9,462,730 44.64% 2,170,955 Abnormal ZNGA $-0.080 -2.68% 13,881,045 54.90% 11,398,917 45.09% 2,482,128 Abnormal FB $-3.110 -11.60% 65,528,080 53.35% 55,770,054 45.41% 9,758,026 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Friday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows QLGC with 2,414,542 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-1.44000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
