July 26, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4065 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3370 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1942 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. NovaGold Resources Inc (AMEX:NG), Alpha Natural Resources Inc (NYSE:ANR), Boston Scientific Corp (NYSE:BSX), RadioShack Corp (NYSE:RSH), Ford Motor Co (NYSE:F), Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  NG $-1.330 -24.72% 10,048,436 34.99% 8,941,752 31.14% 1,106,684 Abnormal
  ANR $-0.070 -1.17% 6,224,967 35.76% 5,278,597 30.33% 946,370 Abnormal
  BSX $-0.360 -6.75% 25,707,996 34.22% 19,640,992 26.14% 6,067,004 Abnormal
  RSH $-0.190 -7.31% 3,085,123 39.32% 1,964,896 25.04% 1,120,227 Abnormal
  F $-0.030 -0.34% 17,109,062 33.23% 14,894,292 28.93% 2,214,770 Abnormal
  ZNGA $-1.940 -38.16% 54,199,657 54.59% 45,239,241 45.57% 8,960,416 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows NG with 1,106,684 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-1.33000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
