July 26, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4065 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3370 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1942 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. BroadVision Inc (NASDAQ:BVSN), Innodata Inc (NASDAQ:INOD), MarineMax Inc (NYSE:HZO), Synacor Inc (NASDAQ:SYNC), Ferro Corp (NYSE:FOE), Cash America International Inc (NYSE:CSH). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  BVSN $-1.880 -18.82% 119,437 41.23% 165,971 57.30% -46,534 -248
  INOD $-1.870 -32.89% 263,850 43.10% 346,615 56.61% -82,765 -443
  HZO $-1.850 -20.72% 252,117 30.27% 403,799 48.48% -151,682 -820
  SYNC $-3.780 -29.17% 1,265,304 44.97% 1,469,779 52.23% -204,475 -541
  FOE $-0.980 -25.93% 1,364,785 34.63% 1,718,412 43.60% -353,627 -3,608
  CSH $-8.430 -18.68% 614,975 21.97% 1,029,233 36.77% -414,258 -491
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BVSN with a dollar loss Thursday of $-1.88000 and a Friction Factor of -248 shares. That means that it only took 248 more shares of selling than buying to move BVSN lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
