July 25, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 4023 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2567 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2499 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Pfizer Inc (NYSE:PFE), International Game Technology (NYSE:IGT), Huntington Bancshares Inc (NASDAQ:HBAN), Sprint Nextel Corp (NYSE:S), Polycom Inc (NASDAQ:PLCM), WellPoint Inc (NYSE:WLP). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction PFE $-0.050 -0.19% 11,113,539 38.89% 7,605,096 26.61% 3,508,443 Abnormal IGT $-2.760 -18.78% 11,560,116 38.31% 9,014,111 29.88% 2,546,005 Abnormal HBAN $-0.010 -0.08% 7,270,673 58.20% 5,218,686 41.78% 2,051,987 Abnormal S $-0.080 -2.32% 26,851,612 46.78% 16,128,652 28.10% 10,722,960 Abnormal PLCM $-1.090 -11.96% 9,070,852 54.57% 7,496,376 45.10% 1,574,476 Abnormal WLP $-7.410 -12.06% 5,761,907 36.98% 4,186,193 26.87% 1,575,714 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows PFE with 3,508,443 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.05000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
