July 23, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3873 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1314 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4218 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL), Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO), Sprint Nextel Corp (NYSE:S), Dow Chemical Co (NYSE:DOW), Oracle Corp (NASDAQ:ORCL), Regions Financial Corp (NYSE:RF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  AAPL $-1.740 -0.29% 9,247,681 53.51% 8,000,078 46.29% 1,247,603 Abnormal
  CSCO $-0.330 -2.02% 20,706,402 52.67% 18,065,178 45.95% 2,641,224 Abnormal
  S $-0.090 -2.46% 17,495,891 34.67% 12,996,002 25.76% 4,499,889 Abnormal
  DOW $-0.310 -1.00% 3,916,290 41.19% 2,416,961 25.42% 1,499,329 Abnormal
  ORCL $-0.460 -1.54% 12,800,800 55.20% 10,339,551 44.58% 2,461,249 Abnormal
  RF $-0.020 -0.31% 6,753,387 35.08% 4,407,577 22.89% 2,345,810 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Monday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows AAPL with 1,247,603 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-1.74000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
