July 17, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3947 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2987 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2390 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. DELTA AIR LINES INC (NYSE:DAL), Nokia Oyj (NYSE:NOK), Health Management Associates Inc (NYSE:HMA), Micron Technology Inc (NASDAQ:MU), Beazer Homes USA Inc (NYSE:BZH), Alcoa Inc (NYSE:AA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  DAL $-0.140 -1.31% 4,160,469 39.98% 2,899,662 27.86% 1,260,807 Abnormal
  NOK $-0.100 -5.56% 27,947,644 40.16% 25,242,772 36.28% 2,704,872 Abnormal
  HMA $-0.060 -0.77% 3,432,753 49.41% 1,927,751 27.75% 1,505,002 Abnormal
  MU $-0.200 -3.33% 18,702,180 52.66% 16,811,280 47.33% 1,890,900 Abnormal
  BZH $-0.050 -1.75% 3,416,283 52.02% 1,821,557 27.74% 1,594,726 Abnormal
  AA $-0.040 -0.48% 17,320,566 50.18% 8,185,903 23.72% 9,134,663 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DAL with 1,260,807 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.14000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
