July 16, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3938 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2211 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3045 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. SUPERVALU Inc (NYSE:SVU), AT&T Inc (NYSE:T), KeyCorp (NYSE:KEY), Dollar General Corp (NYSE:DG), Human Genome Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:HGSI), Staples Inc (NASDAQ:SPLS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  SVU $0.130 5.60% 11,395,822 33.11% 12,683,956 36.85% -1,288,134 Abnormal
  T $0.070 0.20% 4,742,512 27.36% 6,204,375 35.79% -1,461,863 Abnormal
  KEY $0.020 0.30% 2,897,616 29.99% 3,566,639 36.92% -669,023 Abnormal
  DG $0.080 0.15% 389,329 19.67% 1,159,762 58.59% -770,433 Abnormal
  HGSI $0.620 4.57% 57,731,281 47.67% 70,066,705 57.86% -12,335,424 Abnormal
  SPLS $0.110 0.89% 3,974,497 43.75% 4,948,466 54.47% -973,969 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Monday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SVU with 1,288,134 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.13000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
