July 11, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3839 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2221 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2979 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Wednesday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Sirius XM Radio Inc (NASDAQ:SIRI), Ivanhoe Mines Ltd (NYSE:IVN), BrightPoint Inc (NASDAQ:CELL), CYS Investments Inc (NYSE:CYS), Powershares Qqq Trust Series 1 (NASDAQ:QQQ), Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  SIRI $-0.020 -0.73% 10,358,128 44.97% 12,540,791 54.45% -2,182,663 -1,091,332
  IVN $-0.180 -2.04% 1,138,707 16.94% 3,849,955 57.28% -2,711,248 -150,625
  CELL $-0.060 -0.62% 1,422,523 23.94% 4,500,711 75.73% -3,078,188 -513,031
  CYS $-0.320 -2.26% 7,883,146 24.69% 12,157,736 38.08% -4,274,590 -133,581
  QQQ $-0.360 -0.57% 18,318,078 42.57% 22,803,102 53.00% -4,485,024 -124,584
  ZNGA $-0.070 -1.40% 6,577,014 42.30% 8,964,924 57.66% -2,387,910 -341,130
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SIRI down $-0.02000 with a Friction Factor of -1,091,332 and a Net Volume of -2,182,663. That means that it takes 1,091,332 more shares of selling than buying to drop SIRI by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
