July 3, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3509 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3926 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1468 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), AMYLIN PHARMACEUTICALS, INC. (NASDAQ:AMLN), CARMAX INC (NYSE:KMX), ALCOA INC. (NYSE:AA), Oracle Corp (NASDAQ:ORCL), TREATY ENERGY CORP (OTC:TECO). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  S $0.060 1.76% 8,775,203 32.66% 11,910,122 44.32% -3,134,919 Abnormal
  AMLN $0.030 0.09% 8,649,362 34.40% 16,486,848 65.57% -7,837,486 Abnormal
  KMX $0.220 0.84% 392,339 13.54% 1,599,106 55.21% -1,206,767 Abnormal
  AA $0.290 3.30% 5,071,463 29.02% 6,055,479 34.65% -984,016 Abnormal
  ORCL $0.170 0.59% 5,838,764 41.48% 8,053,635 57.21% -2,214,871 Abnormal
  TECO $0.010 28.57% 1,490,853 42.74% 2,470,576 70.83% -979,723 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows S with 3,134,919 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.06000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
