July 3, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3509 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3926 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1468 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. COMCAST CORP-CLASS A (NASDAQ:CMCSA), News Corp (NASDAQ:NWS), Comcast Corp (NASDAQ:CMCSK), PULTEGROUP INC (NYSE:PHM), WELLS FARGO & CO (NYSE:WFC), GREATER PA CORP (NASDAQ:GRPN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  CMCSA $-0.230 -0.70% 4,119,775 51.87% 3,314,804 41.73% 804,971 Abnormal
  NWS $-0.020 -0.08% 1,879,334 69.35% 822,406 30.35% 1,056,928 Abnormal
  CMCSK $-0.240 -0.76% 1,797,768 60.27% 1,172,140 39.30% 625,628 Abnormal
  PHM $-0.020 -0.17% 2,319,296 35.23% 1,602,462 24.34% 716,834 Abnormal
  WFC $-0.060 -0.18% 4,800,514 35.88% 2,769,688 20.70% 2,030,826 Abnormal
  GRPN $-0.750 -7.89% 6,457,700 53.09% 5,651,493 46.46% 806,207 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CMCSA with 804,971 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.23000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
