July 3, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3509 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3926 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1468 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. BROADVISION INC (NASDAQ:BVSN), TEGAL CORP (NASDAQ:TGAL), ATP OIL & GAS CORPORATION (NASDAQ:ATPG), RICHMONT MINES INC (AMEX:RIC), INNERWORKINGS INC (NASDAQ:INWK), CYTOMEDIX INC (OTC:CMXI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  BVSN $-0.820 -7.07% 66,548 37.99% 107,209 61.21% -40,661 -496
  TGAL $-0.660 -12.74% 97,779 47.26% 106,133 51.29% -8,354 -127
  ATPG $-0.290 -7.23% 2,113,945 44.98% 2,564,423 54.57% -450,478 -15,534
  RIC $-0.640 -13.39% 276,823 28.38% 296,971 30.45% -20,148 -315
  INWK $-1.070 -7.68% 192,522 48.32% 203,371 51.05% -10,849 -101
  CMXI $-0.090 -7.09% 153,134 30.96% 256,375 51.83% -103,241 -11,471
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BVSN with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-0.82000 and a Friction Factor of -496 shares. That means that it only took 496 more shares of selling than buying to move BVSN lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
