June 15, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3725 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3293 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2158 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. RENTECH INC (AMEX:RTK), DELL INC (NASDAQ:DELL), VERIZON COMMUNICATIONS INC (NYSE:VZ), HOME DEPOT INC (NYSE:HD), Ford Motor Co (NYSE:F), NEW GOLD INC (AMEX:NGD). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction RTK $-0.010 -0.62% 8,257,105 62.50% 2,794,070 21.15% 5,463,035 Abnormal DELL $-0.060 -0.49% 15,778,055 62.87% 9,236,039 36.80% 6,542,016 Abnormal VZ $-0.200 -0.46% 7,148,000 35.11% 4,895,899 24.05% 2,252,101 Abnormal HD $-0.290 -0.56% 5,856,316 33.56% 3,666,191 21.01% 2,190,125 Abnormal F $-0.080 -0.77% 14,230,204 36.08% 10,877,377 27.58% 3,352,827 Abnormal NGD $-0.320 -3.18% 3,772,419 37.83% 1,317,010 13.21% 2,455,409 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Friday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows RTK with 5,463,035 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.01000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
