June 7, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4025 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2598 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2635 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Thursday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. FREEPORT-MCMORAN COPPER (NYSE:FCX), HJ HEINZ CO (NYSE:HNZ), AT&T INC (NYSE:T), QUESTAR CORP (NYSE:STR), JPMORGAN CHASE & CO. (NYSE:JPM), STAPLES INC (NASDAQ:SPLS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  FCX $-0.070 -0.21% 4,653,887 19.48% 11,526,597 48.25% -6,872,710 -981,816
  HNZ $-0.050 -0.09% 564,735 8.51% 5,274,952 79.49% -4,710,217 -942,043
  T $-0.260 -0.75% 9,034,912 21.30% 21,648,185 51.04% -12,613,273 -485,126
  STR $-0.040 -0.20% 717,552 13.65% 3,823,145 72.74% -3,105,593 -776,398
  JPM $-0.260 -0.79% 9,898,518 18.52% 32,238,645 60.30% -22,340,127 -859,236
  SPLS $-0.130 -1.05% 6,002,778 27.17% 16,093,744 72.84% -10,090,966 -776,228
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows FCX down $-0.07000 with a Friction Factor of -981,816 and a Net Volume of -6,872,710. That means that it takes 981,816 more shares of selling than buying to drop FCX by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
