May 31, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3786 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2608 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3054 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. DELTA AIR LINES INC (NYSE:DAL), ANSYS INC (NASDAQ:ANSS), ALTRIA GROUP INC (NYSE:MO), DYNEGY INC (NYSE:DYN), CORNING INC (NYSE:GLW), Oracle Corp (NASDAQ:ORCL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  DAL $0.410 3.49% 5,760,824 27.99% 7,378,306 35.85% -1,617,482 Abnormal
  ANSS $0.220 0.36% 655,792 22.32% 2,276,116 77.46% -1,620,324 Abnormal
  MO $0.170 0.53% 2,993,378 20.88% 7,292,328 50.87% -4,298,950 Abnormal
  DYN $0.030 7.74% 1,951,824 25.95% 3,767,076 50.09% -1,815,252 Abnormal
  GLW $0.120 0.93% 5,634,174 27.96% 7,575,130 37.60% -1,940,956 Abnormal
  ORCL $0.290 1.11% 13,395,383 42.92% 17,803,784 57.05% -4,408,401 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Thursday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DAL with 1,617,482 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.41000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
