May 24, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3854 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2786 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2760 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Thursday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. DELTA AIR LINES INC (NYSE:DAL), ABB Ltd (NYSE:ABB), AMERICAN ELECTRIC POWER (NYSE:AEP), ALTRIA GROUP INC (NYSE:MO), DOW CHEMICAL CO/THE (NYSE:DOW), SCHWAB (NYSE:SCHW). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction DAL $0.510 4.75% 7,059,308 36.47% 5,931,453 30.64% 1,127,855 22,115 ABB $0.020 0.12% 2,944,718 37.27% 1,805,933 22.86% 1,138,785 569,393 AEP $0.190 0.50% 1,767,579 86.45% 572,453 28.00% 1,195,126 62,901 MO $0.400 1.25% 3,573,624 39.31% 2,337,363 25.71% 1,236,261 30,907 DOW $1.030 3.37% 5,081,859 32.85% 3,742,798 24.20% 1,339,061 13,001 SCHW $0.020 0.16% 3,604,647 33.06% 2,455,801 22.52% 1,148,846 574,423Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows DAL with a Net Buy Volume of 1,127,855 shares and a Friction Factor of 22,115 shares. That means that it takes 22,115 more shares of buying than selling to move DAL higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Thursday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
