May 22, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3842 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2408 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3376 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. EDGAR ONLINE INC (NASDAQ:EDGR), WELLS FARGO & CO (NYSE:WFC), SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), MICROSOFT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:MSFT), Oracle Corp (NASDAQ:ORCL), Clearwire Corp (NASDAQ:CLWR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  EDGR $0.360 50.00% 1,044,737 19.75% 4,234,147 80.06% -3,189,410 Abnormal
  WFC $0.270 0.86% 6,595,658 21.84% 8,577,160 28.41% -1,981,502 Abnormal
  S $0.040 1.69% 8,291,540 22.47% 16,225,877 43.98% -7,934,337 Abnormal
  MSFT $0.010 0.03% 16,679,769 42.30% 22,245,610 56.41% -5,565,841 Abnormal
  ORCL $0.100 0.38% 9,871,051 44.66% 12,113,287 54.81% -2,242,236 Abnormal
  CLWR $0.100 8.33% 18,353,663 38.21% 25,741,948 53.59% -7,388,285 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows EDGR with 3,189,410 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.36000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
