May 17, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3350 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1306 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4970 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. LOWE'S COS INC (NYSE:LOW), LEUCADIA NATIONAL CORP (NYSE:LUK), SANOFI-AVENTIS-ADR (NYSE:SNY), ARM HOLDINGS PLC-SPONS ADR (NASDAQ:ARMH), GENON ENERGY INC (NYSE:GEN), (NASDAQ:QQQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  LOW $-0.670 -2.29% 5,958,604 30.38% 4,277,492 21.81% 1,681,112 Abnormal
  LUK $-0.050 -0.23% 3,847,860 62.80% 715,479 11.68% 3,132,381 Abnormal
  SNY $-0.120 -0.35% 4,286,283 46.49% 2,410,291 26.14% 1,875,992 Abnormal
  ARMH $-0.670 -2.91% 4,428,873 59.33% 2,958,948 39.64% 1,469,925 Abnormal
  GEN $-0.100 -4.93% 6,362,502 41.82% 3,222,667 21.18% 3,139,835 Abnormal
  QQQ $-1.370 -2.18% 32,366,923 52.98% 28,322,431 46.36% 4,044,492 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows LOW with 1,681,112 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.67000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
