May 14, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3584 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1333 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4711 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Monday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATION (NYSE:BAC), PROGRESS ENERGY INC (NYSE:PGN), Sirius XM Radio Inc (NASDAQ:SIRI), WELLS FARGO & CO (NYSE:WFC), MELCO CROWN ENTERTAINME-ADR (NASDAQ:MPEL), FANNIE MAE (OTC:FNMA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  BAC $-0.200 -2.65% 44,270,034 26.38% 55,714,041 33.20% -11,444,007 -572,200
  PGN $-0.120 -0.22% 227,118 4.80% 4,183,490 88.33% -3,956,372 -329,698
  SIRI $-0.110 -5.18% 36,584,896 39.88% 55,134,264 60.10% -18,549,368 -1,686,306
  WFC $-0.970 -2.91% 6,965,879 23.45% 9,297,943 31.30% -2,332,064 -24,042
  MPEL $-1.330 -9.26% 6,919,012 42.63% 9,114,520 56.16% -2,195,508 -16,508
  FNMA $-0.024 -8.00% 821,094 18.85% 3,535,309 81.15% -2,714,215 -1,130,923
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BAC down $-0.20000 with a Friction Factor of -572,200 and a Net Volume of -11,444,007. That means that it takes 572,200 more shares of selling than buying to drop BAC by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
