Market Maker Surveillance Report. SGI, CDTI, FONR, DGIT, SRCH, RGDX, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Thursday, Ma
May 10, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3784 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3195 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2582 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Silicon Graphics International Corp (NYSE:SGI), CLEAN DIESEL TECHNOLOGIES (NASDAQ:CDTI), FONAR CORP (NASDAQ:FONR), DG FASTCHANNEL INC (NASDAQ:DGIT), SEARCHLIGHT MINERALS CORP (OTCBB:SRCH), RESPONSE GENETICS INC (NASDAQ:RGDX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction SGI $-2.850 -31.35% 3,727,134 49.68% 3,747,590 49.95% -20,456 -72 CDTI $-0.710 -20.06% 328,118 48.88% 342,594 51.04% -14,476 -204 FONR $-0.780 -15.76% 251,839 39.81% 380,362 60.13% -128,523 -1,648 DGIT $-1.590 -15.75% 820,912 47.35% 902,158 52.03% -81,246 -511 SRCH $-0.300 -22.56% 458,862 45.36% 540,276 53.41% -81,414 -2,714 RGDX $-0.370 -18.68% 31,204 11.23% 246,743 88.77% -215,539 -5,825Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows SGI with a dollar loss Thursday of $-2.85000 and a Friction Factor of -72 shares. That means that it only took 72 more shares of selling than buying to move SGI lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
