Market Maker Surveillance Report. PFE, DYN, S, ATVI, RF, IZEA, Bullishly Biased Price Friction For Thursday, May 10th 2012
May 10, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3784 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3195 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2582 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. PFIZER INC (NYSE:PFE), DYNEGY INC (NYSE:DYN), SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), ACTIVISION BLIZZARD INC (NASDAQ:ATVI), REGIONS FINANCIAL CORP (NYSE:RF), IZEA HOLDINGS INCORPORATED (OTC:IZEA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction PFE $0.400 1.78% 12,872,034 24.32% 14,501,458 27.40% -1,629,424 Abnormal DYN $0.060 14.73% 4,259,663 36.42% 6,294,914 53.83% -2,035,251 Abnormal S $0.070 2.92% 7,602,150 23.46% 16,092,103 49.66% -8,489,953 Abnormal ATVI $0.340 2.74% 7,360,891 43.83% 9,235,534 54.99% -1,874,643 Abnormal RF $0.100 1.56% 4,935,579 23.42% 6,493,088 30.81% -1,557,509 Abnormal IZEA $0.285 129.55% 1,042,902 21.77% 4,347,407 90.75% -3,304,505 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Thursday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows PFE with 1,629,424 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.40000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
