May 8, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3949 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1902 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3801 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. SAVIENT PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:SVNT), ARENA PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:ARNA), NEPHROS INC (OTC:NEPH), ROSETTA STONE INC (NYSE:RST), SUPERMEDIA INC (NASDAQ:SPMD), DOMARK INTERNATIONAL INC (OTCBB:DOMK). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  SVNT $0.260 16.67% 2,290,767 68.24% 1,066,070 31.76% 1,224,697 47,104
  ARNA $0.670 24.63% 25,914,615 51.32% 24,058,260 47.64% 1,856,355 27,707
  NEPH $0.420 23.60% 84,702 67.93% 39,983 32.07% 44,719 1,065
  RST $2.020 18.91% 142,799 38.24% 115,648 30.97% 27,151 134
  SPMD $0.560 32.18% 371,502 65.55% 185,158 32.67% 186,344 3,328
  DOMK $1.100 34.81% 1,237,909 26.46% 1,168,021 24.97% 69,888 635
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SVNT with a dollar gain Tuesday of $0.26000 and a Friction Factor of 47,104 shares. That means that it only took 47,104 more shares of buying than selling to move SVNT higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
