May 8, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3949 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1902 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3801 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. DENDREON CORP (NASDAQ:DNDN), BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATION (NYSE:BAC), MICROSOFT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:MSFT), THOMPSON CREEK METALS CO INC (NYSE:TC), CORELOGIC INC (NYSE:CLGX), (NASDAQ:QQQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  DNDN $-2.940 -25.15% 14,596,108 55.17% 11,759,140 44.45% 2,836,968 Abnormal
  BAC $-0.180 -2.26% 55,074,578 30.97% 48,982,489 27.55% 6,092,089 Abnormal
  MSFT $-0.120 -0.39% 24,565,721 53.17% 21,568,147 46.68% 2,997,574 Abnormal
  TC $-0.430 -9.27% 8,274,674 47.93% 3,876,541 22.45% 4,398,133 Abnormal
  CLGX $-0.080 -0.46% 3,154,345 80.08% 401,290 10.19% 2,753,055 Abnormal
  QQQ $-0.260 -0.40% 36,302,399 50.74% 28,516,179 39.86% 7,786,220 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DNDN with 2,836,968 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-2.94000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
