Market Maker Surveillance Report. BPHX, AXK, FONR, PFSW, SCVL, KIOR, Winning Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Thursday, M
March 22, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3777 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1741 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4073 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. BLUEPHOENIX SOLUTIONS LTD (NASDAQ:BPHX), ACCELER8 TECHNOLOGY CORP (AMEX:AXK), FONAR CORP (NASDAQ:FONR), PFSWEB INC (NASDAQ:PFSW), SHOE CARNIVAL INC (NASDAQ:SCVL), (NASDAQ:KIOR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BPHX $0.260 18.06% 122,998 38.23% 103,455 32.16% 19,543 752 AXK $0.210 25.30% 27,705 19.55% 25,584 18.06% 2,121 101 FONR $0.410 18.80% 221,850 61.89% 136,431 38.06% 85,419 2,083 PFSW $0.620 18.96% 178,277 58.57% 124,392 40.87% 53,885 869 SCVL $5.730 21.62% 341,448 55.00% 270,479 43.57% 70,969 124 KIOR $1.410 15.10% 157,916 59.41% 106,705 40.14% 51,211 363Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BPHX with a dollar gain Thursday of $0.26000 and a Friction Factor of 752 shares. That means that it only took 752 more shares of buying than selling to move BPHX higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
