March 21, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3644 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2864 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3104 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Wednesday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. PFIZER INC (NYSE:PFE), PMC - SIERRA INC (NASDAQ:PMCS), RITE AID CORP (NYSE:RAD), HEWLETT-PACKARD COMPANY (NYSE:HPQ), GENWORTH FINANCIAL INC-CL A (NYSE:GNW), CLEAN COAL TECHNOLOGIES INC (OTC:CCTC). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  PFE $-0.030 -0.14% 5,751,312 21.57% 12,505,363 46.90% -6,754,051 -2,251,350
  PMCS $-0.050 -0.71% 940,547 11.67% 7,056,009 87.54% -6,115,462 -1,223,092
  RAD $-0.070 -3.66% 3,721,501 26.65% 6,622,368 47.42% -2,900,867 -414,410
  HPQ $-0.540 -2.25% 11,931,004 26.22% 17,252,048 37.91% -5,321,044 -98,538
  GNW $-0.200 -2.20% 2,007,766 17.77% 5,551,936 49.13% -3,544,170 -177,209
  CCTC $-0.050 -31.31% 9,961,215 43.06% 13,174,426 56.94% -3,213,211 -641,359
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows PFE down $-0.03000 with a Friction Factor of -2,251,350 and a Net Volume of -6,754,051. That means that it takes 2,251,350 more shares of selling than buying to drop PFE by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
