March 19, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3770 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3620 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2443 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Monday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY (NYSE:GE), POPULAR INC (NASDAQ:BPOP), MORGAN STANLEY (NYSE:MS), EMC CORPORATION (NYSE:EMC), Ford Motor Co (NYSE:F), AMBAC FINANCIAL GROUP INC (OTC:ABKFQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction GE $0.020 0.10% 15,445,652 36.15% 11,220,458 26.26% 4,225,194 2,112,597 BPOP $0.060 2.68% 5,311,322 65.28% 2,739,847 33.67% 2,571,475 428,579 MS $0.550 2.82% 11,218,658 34.95% 9,597,681 29.90% 1,620,977 29,472 EMC $0.060 0.21% 6,367,264 41.01% 3,789,362 24.41% 2,577,902 429,650 F $0.100 0.80% 14,483,186 27.63% 12,229,090 23.33% 2,254,096 225,410 ABKFQ $0.017 65.88% 8,215,150 68.06% 3,855,957 31.94% 4,359,193 2,594,758Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows GE with a Net Buy Volume of 4,225,194 shares and a Friction Factor of 2,112,597 shares. That means that it takes 2,112,597 more shares of buying than selling to move GE higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Monday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
