March 16, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3788 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3003 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2978 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. NEOMEDIA TECHNOLOGIES INC (OTCBB:NEOM), APPLIED MATERIALS, INC. (NASDAQ:AMAT), QUALCOMM INC (NASDAQ:QCOM), DIRECTV-CLASS A (NASDAQ:DTV), CISCO SYSTEMS INCORPORATED (NASDAQ:CSCO), SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  NEOM $0.035 162.91% 133,317,219 46.33% 154,567,756 53.72% -21,250,537 Abnormal
  AMAT $0.030 0.23% 5,825,268 29.09% 14,199,842 70.90% -8,374,574 Abnormal
  QCOM $0.190 0.30% 5,773,174 26.12% 16,286,120 73.70% -10,512,946 Abnormal
  DTV $0.130 0.27% 2,349,751 17.47% 11,074,724 82.36% -8,724,973 Abnormal
  CSCO $0.080 0.42% 26,747,594 37.46% 44,482,563 62.30% -17,734,969 Abnormal
  S $0.090 3.21% 17,308,509 29.31% 27,567,675 46.69% -10,259,166 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Friday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows NEOM with 21,250,537 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.03470. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
