February 28, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3802 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3007 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3087 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. POPULAR INC (NASDAQ:BPOP), MARVELL TECHNOLOGY GROUP LTD (NASDAQ:MRVL), Cemex SAB de CV (NYSE:CX), ALLSCRIPTS HEALTHCARE SOLUTI (NASDAQ:MDRX), Oracle Corp (NASDAQ:ORCL), HERCULES OFFSHORE INC (NASDAQ:HERO). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     BPOP $-0.020 -1.06% 5,850,271 60.50% 3,811,143 39.41% 2,039,128 Abnormal
     MRVL $-0.060 -0.38% 8,030,511 55.35% 5,996,566 41.33% 2,033,945 Abnormal
     CX $-0.030 -0.39% 9,686,453 39.37% 4,032,658 16.39% 5,653,795 Abnormal
     MDRX $-0.110 -0.59% 4,119,661 60.43% 2,687,319 39.42% 1,432,342 Abnormal
     ORCL $-0.070 -0.24% 14,606,184 53.05% 12,909,500 46.89% 1,696,684 Abnormal
     HERO $-0.190 -3.50% 4,461,312 65.74% 2,295,703 33.83% 2,165,609 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BPOP with 2,039,128 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.02000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
