February 24, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3628 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3044 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3014 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY (NYSE:GE), TELE NORTE LESTE PART-ADR (NYSE:TNE), ALCOA INC. (NYSE:AA), Vodafone Group PLC (NYSE:VOD), News Corp (NASDAQ:NWSA), SWORDFISH FINANCIAL INC (OTC:SWRF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction GE $-0.070 -0.36% 8,578,917 36.20% 7,150,484 30.17% 1,428,433 Abnormal TNE $-0.110 -1.06% 4,045,460 55.86% 2,148,075 29.66% 1,897,385 Abnormal AA $-0.030 -0.29% 7,603,541 40.04% 6,045,301 31.83% 1,558,240 Abnormal VOD $-0.040 -0.14% 4,990,418 56.53% 3,787,495 42.90% 1,202,923 Abnormal NWSA $-0.080 -0.41% 7,419,394 53.99% 6,295,609 45.81% 1,123,785 Abnormal SWRF $-0.022 -77.89% 20,227,932 63.27% 11,743,478 36.73% 8,484,454 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Friday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows GE with 1,428,433 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.07000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
