February 7, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3975 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3143 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2779 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. NetApp Inc (NASDAQ:NTAP), DRYSHIPS INC (NASDAQ:DRYS), HERCULES OFFSHORE INC (NASDAQ:HERO), SCHWAB (NYSE:SCHW), FRONTIER COMMUNICATIONS CORP (NYSE:FTR), XSTRATA PLC-UNSPONS ADR (OTC:XSRAY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     NTAP $-0.520 -1.30% 6,041,957 60.96% 3,282,705 33.12% 2,759,252 Abnormal
     DRYS $-0.030 -0.89% 11,194,337 52.39% 10,162,981 47.56% 1,031,356 Abnormal
     HERO $-0.030 -0.60% 3,703,161 63.76% 2,019,805 34.77% 1,683,356 Abnormal
     SCHW $-0.300 -2.39% 7,637,086 27.45% 6,436,605 23.14% 1,200,481 Abnormal
     FTR $-0.040 -1.01% 8,668,539 56.17% 6,443,398 41.75% 2,225,141 Abnormal
     XSRAY $-0.170 -4.38% 1,566,683 47.16% 472,656 14.23% 1,094,027 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows NTAP with 2,759,252 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.52000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
