Market Maker Surveillance Report. NWK, SPEX, CMED, DHX, SHOR, ECIT, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Thursday, Feb

February 2, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3711 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3392 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2528 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. NETWORK EQUIPMENT TECH INC (NASDAQ:NWK), SPHERIX INC (NASDAQ:SPEX), CHINA MEDICAL TECH-SPON ADR (NASDAQ:CMED), Dice Holdings Inc (NYSE:DHX), SHORETEL INC (NASDAQ:SHOR), ECOLAND INTERNATIONAL INCORPORATED (OTC:ECIT). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     NWK $-0.220 -15.60% 124,061 45.01% 151,599 54.99% -27,538 -1,252
     SPEX $-0.290 -21.97% 304,986 41.41% 398,165 54.07% -93,179 -3,213
     CMED $-0.520 -20.63% 1,814,907 47.15% 2,034,787 52.86% -219,880 -4,228
     DHX $-1.720 -17.22% 749,756 27.67% 775,874 28.63% -26,118 -152
     SHOR $-1.310 -19.24% 1,451,200 47.47% 1,602,790 52.43% -151,590 -1,157
     ECIT $-0.240 -19.35% 1,755,556 37.62% 2,139,499 45.85% -383,943 -15,998
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows NWK with a dollar loss Thursday of $-0.22000 and a Friction Factor of -1,252 shares. That means that it only took 1,252 more shares of selling than buying to move NWK lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
