February 1, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3609 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4489 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1700 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. ADVANCED SEMICONDUCTOR E-ADR (NYSE:ASX), PFIZER INC (NYSE:PFE), BP PLC-SPONS ADR (NYSE:BP), Quicksilver Resources Inc (NYSE:KWK), AMAZON.COM INC (NASDAQ:AMZN), ROCHE HOLDINGS LTD-SPONS ADR (OTC:RHHBY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     ASX $-0.060 -1.14% 1,254,407 49.78% 540,477 21.45% 713,930 Abnormal
     PFE $-0.090 -0.42% 14,207,316 31.82% 11,811,713 26.46% 2,395,603 Abnormal
     BP $-0.310 -0.68% 4,214,408 35.43% 3,275,650 27.54% 938,758 Abnormal
     KWK $-0.300 -5.99% 8,348,377 41.25% 5,605,510 27.69% 2,742,867 Abnormal
     AMZN $-14.980 -7.70% 10,864,356 51.03% 10,174,672 47.79% 689,684 Abnormal
     RHHBY $-0.880 -2.06% 5,345,658 95.56% 112,419 2.01% 5,233,239 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ASX with 713,930 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.06000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
