January 31, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3777 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3281 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2667 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. QUEPASA CORP (AMEX:QPSA), SPANISH BROADCASTING SYS-A (NASDAQ:SBSA), RTI Biologics Inc (NASDAQ:RTIX), MANNKIND CORP (NASDAQ:MNKD), KONA GRILL INC (NASDAQ:KONA), AMERICAN STANDARD ENERGY COR (OTCBB:ASEN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     QPSA $-0.690 -13.83% 516,740 26.68% 610,938 31.54% -94,198 -1,365
     SBSA $-1.200 -16.95% 105,113 43.00% 132,695 54.29% -27,582 -230
     RTIX $-0.540 -13.53% 695,106 48.35% 742,403 51.65% -47,297 -876
     MNKD $-0.480 -15.02% 1,370,224 47.13% 1,532,679 52.72% -162,455 -3,384
     KONA $-0.920 -13.18% 74,346 29.87% 168,421 67.66% -94,075 -1,023
     ASEN $-0.300 -12.50% 45,786 48.28% 48,052 50.67% -2,266 -76
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows QPSA with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-0.69000 and a Friction Factor of -1,365 shares. That means that it only took 1,365 more shares of selling than buying to move QPSA lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
