January 27, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3481 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3734 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2270 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. QUEPASA CORP (AMEX:QPSA), DATAWATCH CORP (NASDAQ:DWCH), RENAISSANCE CAP GR (NYSE:RENN), SOLUTIA INC (NYSE:SOA), Proteonomix Inc (OTC:PROT), SNAP INTERACTIVE INC (OTCBB:STVI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     QPSA $1.180 32.07% 973,459 31.25% 823,390 26.43% 150,069 1,272
     DWCH $2.310 36.72% 162,728 65.96% 81,515 33.04% 81,213 352
     RENN $1.110 26.68% 5,767,525 35.98% 5,266,671 32.86% 500,854 4,512
     SOA $7.990 40.95% 24,219,698 30.77% 20,558,284 26.12% 3,661,414 4,582
     PROT $1.410 29.44% 271,492 40.97% 264,696 39.95% 6,796 48
     STVI $0.310 26.72% 93,394 39.83% 66,049 28.17% 27,345 882
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows QPSA with a dollar gain Friday of $1.18000 and a Friction Factor of 1,272 shares. That means that it only took 1,272 more shares of buying than selling to move QPSA higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
