January 20, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3688 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3462 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2424 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. ROBBINS & MYERS INC (NYSE:RBN), COMSTOCK HOMEBUILDING COS-A (NASDAQ:CHCI), SKYSTAR BIO-PHARMACEUTICAL (NASDAQ:SKBI), SNAP INTERACTIVE INC (OTCBB:STVI), (NYSE:VOC), (NYSE:DSLV). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     RBN $-4.900 -9.64% 495,806 23.99% 608,224 29.42% -112,418 -229
     CHCI $-0.190 -10.56% 30,322 28.95% 74,401 71.05% -44,079 -2,320
     SKBI $-0.310 -10.30% 54,901 45.40% 65,530 54.19% -10,629 -343
     STVI $-0.380 -24.05% 53,941 24.41% 98,890 44.74% -44,949 -1,183
     VOC $-2.850 -11.68% 343,556 33.39% 393,617 38.25% -50,061 -176
     DSLV $-6.350 -14.72% 86,616 21.12% 88,914 21.68% -2,298 -4
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows RBN with a dollar loss Friday of $-4.90000 and a Friction Factor of -229 shares. That means that it only took 229 more shares of selling than buying to move RBN lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
