January 12, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3743 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3483 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2337 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. BROADVISION INC (NASDAQ:BVSN), BIG 5 SPORTING GOODS CORP (NASDAQ:BGFV), SPHERIX INC (NASDAQ:SPEX), Rex Energy Corp (NASDAQ:REXX), JBI INC (OTC:JBII), CAMELOT INFORMATION SYS-ADS (NYSE:CIS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BVSN $-1.800 -10.37% 200,222 43.05% 252,306 54.25% -52,084 -289 BGFV $-1.310 -13.83% 149,450 38.81% 234,907 61.01% -85,457 -652 SPEX $-0.150 -10.71% 79,304 34.19% 152,641 65.81% -73,337 -4,889 REXX $-2.030 -14.82% 1,278,519 45.64% 1,513,312 54.02% -234,793 -1,157 JBII $-0.350 -23.97% 260,096 23.97% 457,651 42.18% -197,555 -5,644 CIS $-0.280 -11.43% 131,384 16.04% 438,077 53.49% -306,693 -10,953Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BVSN with a dollar loss Thursday of $-1.80000 and a Friction Factor of -289 shares. That means that it only took 289 more shares of selling than buying to move BVSN lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
