Market Maker Surveillance Report. DLA, BGFV, SUMR, UNTK, UAM, LATI, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Wednesday, Ja
January 11, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3694 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3104 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2797 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Delta Apparel Inc (AMEX:DLA), BIG 5 SPORTING GOODS CORP (NASDAQ:BGFV), SUMMER INFANT INC (NASDAQ:SUMR), UNITEK GLOBAL SERVICES INC (OTC:UNTK), UNIVERSAL AMERICAN CORP (NYSE:UAM), LATITUDE SOLUTIONS INC (OTC:LATI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction DLA $-3.980 -20.74% 88,711 37.73% 112,799 47.97% -24,088 -61 BGFV $-1.440 -14.46% 57,557 36.98% 98,091 63.02% -40,534 -281 SUMR $-1.490 -21.75% 420,599 47.57% 462,464 52.30% -41,865 -281 UNTK $-1.150 -25.27% 382,999 21.89% 1,185,689 67.77% -802,690 -6,980 UAM $-2.610 -19.27% 626,038 29.72% 868,959 41.25% -242,921 -931 LATI $-0.280 -17.50% 27,481 26.54% 40,149 38.77% -12,668 -452Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows DLA with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-3.98000 and a Friction Factor of -61 shares. That means that it only took 61 more shares of selling than buying to move DLA lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
