January 10, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3548 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4402 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1872 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. MANAGEMENT NETWORK GROUP INC (NASDAQ:TMNG), ACHILLION PHARMACEUTICALS (NASDAQ:ACHN), TOKYO ELECTRIC POWER CO INC (OTC:TKECF), IPG Photonics Corp (NASDAQ:IPGP), PERFECT WORLD CO-SPON ADR (NASDAQ:PWRD), OMEROS CORP (NASDAQ:OMER). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction TMNG $0.390 25.32% 32,553 55.43% 26,177 44.57% 6,376 163 ACHN $2.270 23.35% 3,502,320 51.46% 3,149,918 46.28% 352,402 1,552 TKECF $0.470 21.86% 94,290 62.85% 32,374 21.58% 61,916 1,317 IPGP $7.760 19.69% 1,545,127 50.69% 1,364,028 44.75% 181,099 233 PWRD $1.720 19.52% 3,431,633 60.75% 2,165,112 38.33% 1,266,521 7,363 OMER $1.020 22.82% 138,690 55.74% 110,127 44.26% 28,563 280Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows TMNG with a dollar gain Tuesday of $0.39000 and a Friction Factor of 163 shares. That means that it only took 163 more shares of buying than selling to move TMNG higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
