January 10, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3548 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4402 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1872 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. LIFE PARTNERS HOLDINGS INC (NASDAQ:LPHI), HI-TECH PHARMACAL CO INC (NASDAQ:HITK), WEBMD HEALTH CORP (NASDAQ:WBMD), COMPLETE GENOMICS INC (NASDAQ:GNOM), (OTC:LTSN), (NASDAQ:ZLTQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     LPHI $-0.640 -13.79% 174,711 40.35% 258,242 59.65% -83,531 -1,305
     HITK $-6.530 -15.61% 964,730 46.79% 1,044,790 50.68% -80,060 -123
     WBMD $-10.470 -28.51% 5,611,352 48.19% 5,854,101 50.28% -242,749 -232
     GNOM $-0.950 -24.42% 838,540 40.61% 1,209,725 58.58% -371,185 -3,907
     LTSN $-2.860 -58.97% 220,700 35.94% 233,250 37.98% -12,550 -44
     ZLTQ $-1.210 -10.84% 143,029 39.27% 186,241 51.13% -43,212 -357
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows LPHI with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-0.64000 and a Friction Factor of -1,305 shares. That means that it only took 1,305 more shares of selling than buying to move LPHI lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
