January 10, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3548 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4402 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1872 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO (NYSE:GE), HEALTH MGMT ASSOCIATES INC-A (NYSE:HMA), CISCO SYSTEMS INCORPORATED (NASDAQ:CSCO), MICROSOFT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:MSFT), Ford Motor Co (NYSE:F), PHH Corp (NYSE:PHH). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     GE $-0.170 -0.90% 19,839,799 33.46% 18,163,848 30.63% 1,675,951 Abnormal
     HMA $-0.860 -12.36% 24,833,414 36.35% 20,544,461 30.07% 4,288,953 Abnormal
     CSCO $-0.200 -1.05% 27,436,808 60.35% 20,492,781 45.07% 6,944,027 Abnormal
     MSFT $-0.320 -1.15% 30,958,461 51.76% 27,929,086 46.70% 3,029,375 Abnormal
     F $-0.010 -0.08% 38,116,227 31.33% 35,883,608 29.50% 2,232,619 Abnormal
     PHH $-0.700 -6.40% 4,782,423 35.82% 3,073,937 23.03% 1,708,486 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows GE with 1,675,951 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.17000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
