January 9, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3786 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3452 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2443 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. CHESAPEAKE ENERGY CORPORATION (NYSE:CHK), Cemex SAB de CV (NYSE:CX), JPMORGAN CHASE & CO (NYSE:JPM), SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), RF Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:RFMD), DUKE ENERGY CORP (NYSE:DUK). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     CHK $-0.410 -1.71% 6,781,080 36.40% 5,064,926 27.19% 1,716,154 Abnormal
     CX $-0.130 -2.39% 4,713,843 37.58% 2,699,923 21.52% 2,013,920 Abnormal
     JPM $-0.130 -0.37% 7,899,782 34.72% 6,793,026 29.86% 1,106,756 Abnormal
     S $-0.010 -0.46% 15,999,299 40.68% 14,579,593 37.07% 1,419,706 Abnormal
     RFMD $-0.060 -1.30% 6,472,141 67.62% 3,099,844 32.38% 3,372,297 Abnormal
     DUK $-0.040 -0.19% 4,810,258 44.95% 2,652,999 24.79% 2,157,259 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Monday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CHK with 1,716,154 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.41000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
