January 6, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3789 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2585 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3095 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. AGENUS INC (NASDAQ:AGEN), DENDREON CORP (NASDAQ:DNDN), AUGME TECHNOLOGIES INC (OTC:AUGT), SABA SOFTWARE, INC. (NASDAQ:SABA), COMSTOCK HOMEBUILDING COS-A (NASDAQ:CHCI), TREVALI RESOURCES CORP (OTC:TREVF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     AGEN $0.300 13.95% 143,678 56.70% 107,731 42.51% 35,947 1,198
     DNDN $1.710 16.10% 16,671,445 49.87% 16,387,731 49.02% 283,714 1,659
     AUGT $0.240 19.05% 221,859 61.87% 111,710 31.15% 110,149 4,590
     SABA $1.010 13.66% 409,309 66.03% 210,279 33.92% 199,030 1,971
     CHCI $0.170 14.66% 87,980 60.22% 58,124 39.78% 29,856 1,756
     TREVF $0.119 12.63% 61,150 67.12% 29,660 32.55% 31,490 2,653
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows AGEN with a dollar gain Friday of $0.30000 and a Friction Factor of 1,198 shares. That means that it only took 1,198 more shares of buying than selling to move AGEN higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
