Market Maker Surveillance Report. CYAN, AONE, PARD, SSN, LIVE, RAYS, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Friday, Dece
December 30, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4327 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3413 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2863 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Cyanotech Corp (NASDAQ:CYAN), A123 SYSTEMS, INCORPORATION (NASDAQ:AONE), PONIARD PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:PARD), Samson Oil and Gas Ltd (AMEX:SSN), LIVEDEAL INC (NASDAQ:LIVE), Raystream Inc (OTCBB:RAYS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction CYAN $-0.630 -8.27% 54,823 39.94% 79,823 58.16% -25,000 -397 AONE $-0.160 -9.04% 1,110,998 32.89% 2,264,550 67.04% -1,153,552 -72,097 PARD $-0.370 -14.80% 27,459 48.11% 29,316 51.36% -1,857 -50 SSN $-0.240 -10.96% 617,435 30.11% 863,099 42.08% -245,664 -10,236 LIVE $-0.390 -8.90% 31,925 32.41% 64,652 65.63% -32,727 -839 RAYS $-0.110 -8.40% 654,733 36.97% 1,014,461 57.28% -359,728 -32,703Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CYAN with a dollar loss Friday of $-0.63000 and a Friction Factor of -397 shares. That means that it only took 397 more shares of selling than buying to move CYAN lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
