Market Maker Surveillance Report. PFE, CIM, HERO, SCHW, MWA, VISN, Bullishly Biased Price Friction For Thursday, December 29th
December 29, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3807 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4227 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2366 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. PFIZER INC (NYSE:PFE), CHIMERA INVESTMENT CORP (NYSE:CIM), HERCULES OFFSHORE INC (NASDAQ:HERO), SCHWAB (NYSE:SCHW), Mueller Water Products Inc (NYSE:MWA), VISIONCHINA MEDIA INC-ADR (NASDAQ:VISN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction PFE $0.110 0.51% 6,194,738 31.80% 6,925,591 35.56% -730,853 Abnormal CIM $0.010 0.40% 4,243,931 36.72% 5,029,859 43.52% -785,928 Abnormal HERO $0.150 3.51% 868,765 34.91% 1,620,161 65.09% -751,396 Abnormal SCHW $0.100 0.91% 3,139,622 30.94% 3,885,627 38.29% -746,005 Abnormal MWA $0.060 2.50% 598,652 23.57% 1,311,229 51.63% -712,577 Abnormal VISN $0.070 5.56% 329,837 3.32% 11,143,824 112.17% -10,813,987 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Thursday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows PFE with 730,853 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.11000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
