December 29, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3807 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4227 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2366 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. IVANHOE ENERGY INC (NASDAQ:IVAN), CARDIOME PHARMA CORP (NASDAQ:CRME), DEX ONE CORP (NYSE:DEXO), ALMADEN MINERALS LTD (AMEX:AAU), FEDERAL HOME LOAN MORTGAGE CORPORATION (OTC:FMCKJ), ZOGENIX INC (NASDAQ:ZGNX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction IVAN $0.160 15.69% 1,742,231 56.83% 1,324,221 43.19% 418,010 26,126 CRME $0.390 17.35% 662,605 55.56% 519,300 43.55% 143,305 3,674 DEXO $0.260 16.99% 1,672,211 37.75% 1,387,934 31.33% 284,277 10,934 AAU $0.310 14.36% 104,175 36.17% 89,952 31.23% 14,223 459 FMCKJ $0.170 13.60% 1,936,515 97.43% 51,075 2.57% 1,885,440 110,908 ZGNX $0.940 44.76% 539,930 58.09% 389,466 41.91% 150,464 1,601Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows IVAN with a dollar gain Thursday of $0.16000 and a Friction Factor of 26,126 shares. That means that it only took 26,126 more shares of buying than selling to move IVAN higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
