Market Maker Surveillance Report. TSTF, BLDP, CAMP, AIQ, ICFI, GNOM, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Friday, Dece
December 23, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3785 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3591 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2320 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. TEAMSTAFF INC (NASDAQ:TSTF), BALLARD POWER SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:BLDP), CALAMP CORP (NASDAQ:CAMP), ALLIANCE HEALTHCARE SERVICE (NYSE:AIQ), ICF International Inc (NASDAQ:ICFI), COMPLETE GENOMICS INC (NASDAQ:GNOM). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction TSTF $-0.140 -6.83% 26,195 47.88% 28,516 52.12% -2,321 -166 BLDP $-0.090 -7.96% 95,559 41.52% 134,578 58.48% -39,019 -4,335 CAMP $-0.880 -17.15% 538,693 43.59% 688,314 55.70% -149,621 -1,700 AIQ $-0.110 -9.17% 39,201 35.58% 39,984 36.29% -783 -71 ICFI $-1.810 -6.75% 128,755 41.43% 181,993 58.57% -53,238 -294 GNOM $-0.330 -10.38% 66,580 39.28% 94,902 56.00% -28,322 -858Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows TSTF with a dollar loss Friday of $-0.14000 and a Friction Factor of -166 shares. That means that it only took 166 more shares of selling than buying to move TSTF lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
