Market Maker Surveillance Report. TRIP, NCTY, ALSK, NWY, ABIO, LIVE, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Thursday, De
December 22, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3965 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3780 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2265 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. TRAVELBYUS INC (OTC:TRIP), The9 Ltd (NASDAQ:NCTY), ALASKA COMM SYSTEMS GROUP (NASDAQ:ALSK), NEW YORK & CO (NYSE:NWY), ARCA BIOPHARMA INC (NASDAQ:ABIO), LIVEDEAL INC (NASDAQ:LIVE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction TRIP $-3.080 -11.12% 2,224,610 35.40% 3,721,562 59.22% -1,496,952 -4,860 NCTY $-1.000 -12.82% 59,806 44.02% 74,763 55.03% -14,957 -150 ALSK $-1.040 -23.69% 2,375,165 43.44% 3,076,971 56.28% -701,806 -6,748 NWY $-0.300 -10.20% 37,884 18.18% 40,430 19.41% -2,546 -85 ABIO $-0.320 -23.70% 410,524 48.72% 432,104 51.28% -21,580 -674 LIVE $-0.800 -16.00% 26,753 34.84% 49,927 65.03% -23,174 -290Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows TRIP with a dollar loss Thursday of $-3.08000 and a Friction Factor of -4,860 shares. That means that it only took 4,860 more shares of selling than buying to move TRIP lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
