December 15, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3914 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3098 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2950 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. CALEDONIA MINING CORP (OTCBB:CALVF), LAM RESEARCH CORP (NASDAQ:LRCX), PITNEY BOWES INC (NYSE:PBI), WELLS FARGO & CO (NYSE:WFC), ALCOA INC. (NYSE:AA), MICROSOFT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:MSFT). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction CALVF $-0.018 -16.67% 1,363,128 84.24% 255,013 15.76% 1,108,115 Abnormal LRCX $-3.360 -8.51% 11,047,300 51.04% 10,026,292 46.32% 1,021,008 Abnormal PBI $-0.010 -0.05% 1,965,359 52.15% 796,201 21.13% 1,169,158 Abnormal WFC $-0.160 -0.62% 9,775,969 30.12% 8,993,811 27.71% 782,158 Abnormal AA $-0.170 -1.90% 11,154,105 25.44% 10,278,377 23.44% 875,728 Abnormal MSFT $-0.020 -0.08% 28,862,013 57.95% 20,803,791 41.77% 8,058,222 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CALVF with 1,108,115 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.01800. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
