December 9, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3488 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4549 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1900 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. SIGA TECHNOLOGIES, INC. (NASDAQ:SIGA), NETWORK EQUIPMENT TECH INC (NASDAQ:NWK), BLUE COAT SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:BCSI), MCCLATCHY CO-CLASS A (NYSE:MNI), Diamond Foods Inc (NASDAQ:DMND), GUIDED THERAPEUTICS INC (OTC:GTHP). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     SIGA $0.490 26.74% 1,498,846 57.70% 1,092,774 42.07% 406,072 8,287
     NWK $0.250 18.66% 145,658 55.76% 115,582 44.24% 30,076 1,203
     BCSI $7.650 43.76% 26,110,890 50.62% 25,662,509 49.75% 448,381 586
     MNI $0.590 34.30% 3,310,568 38.94% 2,524,900 29.70% 785,668 13,316
     DMND $13.850 52.17% 7,735,726 49.56% 7,657,725 49.06% 78,001 56
     GTHP $0.260 22.22% 386,880 55.38% 212,255 30.39% 174,625 6,716
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SIGA with a dollar gain Friday of $0.49000 and a Friction Factor of 8,287 shares. That means that it only took 8,287 more shares of buying than selling to move SIGA higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
