Market Maker Surveillance Report. PCYC, BAMM, PFSW, ECTY, XUE, RAYS, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Friday, Dece
December 9, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3488 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4549 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1900 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. PHARMACYCLICS INC (NASDAQ:PCYC), BOOKS-A-MILLION INC (NASDAQ:BAMM), PFSWEB INC (NASDAQ:PFSW), ECOTALITY INC (NASDAQ:ECTY), XUEDA EDUCATION GR-SPON ADR (NYSE:XUE), (OTCBB:RAYS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction PCYC $-2.230 -15.25% 2,294,127 47.93% 2,418,364 50.53% -124,237 -557 BAMM $-0.170 -7.17% 49,082 37.75% 79,431 61.09% -30,349 -1,785 PFSW $-0.180 -6.47% 112,186 26.15% 316,637 73.81% -204,451 -11,358 ECTY $-0.210 -15.79% 216,319 45.60% 256,702 54.11% -40,383 -1,923 XUE $-0.410 -8.27% 49,809 23.59% 58,806 27.85% -8,997 -219 RAYS $-0.520 -30.95% 2,162,365 33.88% 3,538,844 55.45% -1,376,479 -26,471Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows PCYC with a dollar loss Friday of $-2.23000 and a Friction Factor of -557 shares. That means that it only took 557 more shares of selling than buying to move PCYC lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
